چکیده

Ulnar coronoid process (UCP) fracture is a complex intra-articular fracture, but not common in clinical practice. During surgeries, it is difficult to expose the coronoid process due to complicated surrounding anatomical structures. Moreover, UCP fracture also has a variety of clinical complications. Thus, its treatments have been a challenge and a focus in clinical studies. At present, it is widely accepted that early surgical treatment is required for UCP fracture. Different surgical approaches and fixation techniques have been proposed. However, the optimal approach/technique still remains unclear. In this study, the classification of UCP fractures, surgical approaches, internal fixation techniques, and other relevant issues were reviewed aiming to improve therapeutic efficacy of UCP fracture and reduce its

Anatomic study on anteromedial approach exposure of coronoid process fracture

Purpose: This study aimed to measure anteromedial-approach exposure of coronoid process fracture via anatomy in order to provide anatomic foundation of clinical operations. Methods: A total of 20 adult upper limb specimens (12 male side limbs and 8 female side limbs) were dissected. Each value was measured separately. Superficial layer: Humeral medial epicondyle is point A, the intersection bet...

Stress Fracture and Nonunion of Coronoid Process in a Gymnast

Background. Gymnasts have high mechanical loading forces of up to 14 times body weight. Overuse lesions are typical in wrists and stress fractures in the olecranon, while isolated fractures of the coronoid process are uncommon. We present a case of retraumatized nonunion stress fracture of the ulnar coronoid process. Case Description. A 19-year-old gymnast presented with elbow pain after traini...

Efficacy and outcome of open reduction and internal fixation with mini-plate in ulnar coronoid process fractures

Aim: This study aimed to investigate clinical efficacy of open reduction and mini-plate fixation for the ulnar coronoid process fractures. Methods: 21 cases of ulnar coronoid process fractures treated with open reduction and mini-plate fixation were enrolled. Causes of injury included traffic injuries in 4 cases and fall on the ground in 17 cases. There were 10 cases of type I, 9 cases of type ...

Fixation of the coronoid process in elbow fracture-dislocations.

BACKGROUND Terrible triad injuries consist of a posterior dislocation of the elbow, a coronoid fracture, and a radial head fracture. The coronoid plays a pivotal role as an anterior buttress, yet the optimal management of the coronoid fracture remains unknown. We hypothesize that suture lasso fixation of the coronoid fracture leads to fewer complications and improved outcomes compared with scre...

Surgical approaches to the elbow.

Surgical exposures for complex injuries about the elbow are technically demanding because of the high density of neurologic, vascular, and ligamentous elements around the elbow. The posterior approaches (ie, olecranon osteotomy, triceps-reflecting, triceps-splitting, triceps-reflecting anconeus pedicle flap, paratricipital) include techniques used to navigate the area around the triceps tendon ...
